Experience:

I have 10 years of experience as an oboe/cor anglais and music theory teacher accross the UK, Switzerland and France. I have taught both privately and in schools, 1-2-1 teaching, ensemble coaching and group lessons.

I teach both children and adults, everyone is welcome to learn music!

Present teaching positions:

  • private class oboe/music theory, students from 8 to adults (up to until you can blow in the instrument!) , beginners to Diploma level. ABRSM/Trinity exams as well as preparation to other European exams and youth orchestras

  • Woodwind Instructor and orchestra coach with the City of Edinburgh Instrumental Music Service

  • Oboe tutor at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland for the Musical Theatre Department (Bachelor course)

  • Oboe visiting instructor at the ESMS in Edinburgh, Junior and Senior schools

  • Oboe tutor at the St Aloysius College in Glasgow, Junior and Senior schools (2024-25)

  • Regular cover double reed and orchestra teacher for Sistema Scotland Big Noise (2019-2024)

Pedagogy: 

A student centred approach in a safe and fun learning environment!

My international experiences both as an orchestral musician and teacher, allow me to tailor a unique teaching method suited to every single of my students. 

I am aware of the music conservatoire (or graded exams) syllabus in the UK, France and Switzerland. I am also familiar with the music national curriculum in the Uk and France.

My lessons are designed to be fun, interactive within a safe learning environment and to bring students at their highest potential without any stress and feeling confident about themselves. We cover all aspects of oboe playing including reeds and music theory/aural skills

​

Qualifications:

  • MMus, BA of arts

  • DipABRSM teaching

  • CPD excellence in instrumental teahcing, CPD understanding musical learning

                       

Child protection: I have an up to date PVG membership and DBS check and followed a NSPCC child protection training (2020)

​

Teaching: I teach both in person (at my home - central Belt of Scotland) or online (Zoom/Google meet). 1-2-1 lessons with occasional group workshops on a specific aspect of technique.  Lessons can be given in English, French or German. 

​

Fee: £38 per hour, £28.5 per 45 min and £18 per 30 min. 15% discount if you study both oboe and music theory with me on the second subject and 10% discount for the 2nd child if several children from the same family. â€‹
